Hunter Ritter, student of the monthThinking hard about the future and what he wanted to pursue in life, Hunter Ritter took the time to build on his love for design and architecture. Now in his senior year, college applications submitted and the best news ever – accepted to not just one but two architecture programs. One for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the other the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Getting accepted into this type of program is very hard and students must excel in math and have experience with design. Knowing this about Hunter Ritter, you know he is the obvious choice for Riverton High School’s Student of the Month for February. His excellent grades have put him on the honor roll every year; he is a member of the National Honor Society.

Hunter also made the commitment to be involved with high school sports. He was a four-year member of the football, wrestling and track teams. Football awards followed including 2nd team all-conference and conference honorable mention. He was also voted the most competitive player among his teammates. Hunter also serves on the student council and has won an art award.

This RHS February 2017 student of the month is the son of Christine Smith and Barry Ritter of Riverton.

The Riverton High School Student of the Month Award is sponsored by Illinois National Bank (INB). Hunter was chosen for the award by the staff and faculty of RHS based on attendance, academics, effort, conduct, cooperation, dependability, leadership, school involvement, and service to others. He will receive $50 from INB and will be eligible for 2016-2017 Student of the Year honors at graduation.
