We use our smartphones to research vacation spots, book hotel rooms and find nearby attractions. Now you can do one more thing with your smartphone: pay almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your debit card. And we’re not just talking Apple Pay. Samsung and Android smartphone users can now make payments from their checking account right from their phones.
In other words, you can travel lightly and not worry about how you’ll pay for things.
Samsung pay is accepted virtually anywhere you can swipe or tap your debit card. To use, swipe up on your phone’s home screen to launch the app. Secure with your fingerprint. Hover your device over the card reader to pay. Bing! Payment accepted.
You’ll be comforted in knowing Samsung Pay doesn’t store or share your payment information, so you can pay without worry of fraud.
Samsung Pay works with these Galaxy devices:
- S7 edge
- S6 edge+
- S6 edge
- S6 active
Begin by downloading the free app on Google Play. Samsung provides a great simulator to walk you through the steps of adding your debit card to the program.
With Android pay you can simply unlock your phone, place it near a contactless terminal, and you’re good to go. You don’t even need to open an app. Tap and pay is that fast, that easy.
Android Pay is accepted at over one millions stores across the United States. And when you tap at select merchants, your loyalty points and offers are automatically applied at checkout too.
When you shop at a merchant, Android Pay doesn’t send your actual credit or debit card number with your payment. Instead Android Pay uses a virtual account number to represent your account information — so your card details stay safe.
To begin using Android Pay, check to see if the Android Pay app is on your phone; it comes preloaded on many devices. If not, download from Google Pay. When you open the app, follow the prompts for adding your debit card.
You can then use the app in stores by holding it up to the card reader in stores or by selecting Android Pay when making an in-app purchase.
