It’s a Touchdown for Donations

Touchdowns for the Table - feature artYou hate to start thinking about the holidays when it’s still 85 degrees outside, yet the inevitability of the season hit home when we began talking about high school football and our chance to sponsor Touchdowns for the TableTouchdowns for the Table provides dollars to local organizations which, in part, help make sure everyone has food during the holiday season.  Last year our donation was over $1,900, with $646 going to each charity.

High school football kicked off a few weeks ago, and INB is again sponsoring Touchdowns for the Table, a promotion by Neuhoff Media.  For every point scored at the 21 football games broadcast on Sports Radio 1450 and 96.7 The BOSS, INB will make a $1 donation.  You can keep track of the total by following Sports Radio 1450 web page set up to house the scores and donation amounts.

The total donation will be divided between these three charities

  • Friend-in-Deed provides food and toys at Christmas for needy families in the Springfield area and makes funds available year round in the form of cash grants to families for disaster relief.
  • Kids Café is a partnership between the Springfield Urban League and the Central Illinois Foodbank, feeding 75-100 children each day.  The money raised through Touchdowns for the Table will be used by our employees to provide each child with nutritious snacks over spring break.
  • St. Martin de Porres’ mission is to lovingly serve the needy with dignity.  The agency provides food to over 140 families each day it is open.

We’re excited to be part of the high school football season, especially when the result of the cheering is to help several worthwhile causes which feed those with limited funds each holiday season.  As for the holidays . . .  I could wait until AFTER high school football to see the decorated Christmas trees.
