In the mid 1990’s a group of volunteers from the local medical society came together to provide free health care to those in need. From very humble beginnings, intermittently offering services at a local church, to operating full-time from a renovated, 32,000 square-foot facility, the Central Counties Health Center (CCHC) has worked hard to provide high-quality, affordable, non-discriminatory and accessible primary medical and dental care that meet the personalized needs of underserved people.

While I’m not a medical professional, I’m proud to serve on the board of directors for this great organization. INB has had a relationship with CCHC for many years, so I was honored to be asked to join the board and serve on the finance committee. From that seat, I have seen the niche that CCHC provides in meeting the medical and dental needs of those who might not otherwise have access to these services in our community.

April 18 is the organization’s 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk. I’m proud INB is a presenting sponsor, and that I’ll be in Washington Park Saturday morning with a group of my colleagues. While all of us work full-time jobs and can’t provide the kind of life-changing services provided by the Central Counties’ staff, we can make a difference by simply walking. The money raised at the event will help fund patient services, as well as help fund a new patient/community education program to be offered at CCHC’s newly expanded facility.

CCHC is a non-sectarian, non-profit organization open to all, regardless of ability to pay. The staff provides medical and dental services for children and adults. Please spread the word about the good work CCHC does.
