Mark Zimmer had spent many years in the auto industry as a finance manager before he decided to make a big switch by opening his own mortgage company. He ran Equity Mortgage for five years and then went to work for local banks in the St. Louis area.

“I got into originating residential mortgage loans, which is what I love to do more than anything,” he says. “I love being responsible for helping someone obtain their first new home.”

In fall 2018, Mark joined the INB team in the Chesterfield, MO, office as AVP, mortgage lending, where he is continuing to help customers with the residential mortgage loans that he enjoys so much – particularly for the medical community. Over the past nine years in his career, Mark has developed a niche in helping new physicians purchase their first home. “When working with physicians, I too feel like I am ‘on call’ at all times because my clients know I am always just a phone call or text away with any question or concern that they may have,” he says. “The hours can be long but are very rewarding for me.”

Mark is a native of St. Louis and has lived there his entire life. He graduated from Lafayette High school in Wildwood, MO, in 1989 and attended Missouri State University (formerly Southwest Missouri State) in Springfield, MO, where he studied business and finance.

Mark and his wife have two daughters, ages 12 and 14, “who keep me very busy!” he says. The majority of their weekends are spent on the soccer fields or softball diamonds supporting his oldest daughter who plays in high-level select soccer and softball leagues. “I love coaching my daughter’s softball team, which I have done for the past six years,” he says. “It is very time-consuming, so there is always a lot of juggling going on as we travel constantly for her tournaments, but it is one of my favorite things to do. My youngest daughter has special needs but is very athletic and does everything from gymnastics to horseback riding, which keeps her very busy.”

When Mark’s family has a rare free weekend without athletic activities or work obligations, they love to head to their lake house to go boating, fishing or enjoying BBQ.
